Pocket watches either with a long chain or not is a strapless personal timepiece that can easily be carried in the pocket. Pocket watches have been a symbol of status and higher class in the community for a long time. A century ago, well-off people like to carry gold pocket watches and also being used by the people who were in the jobs where the requirement to do the task within time was mandatory. Now only remain as a collective item and a bit expensive because of the brand name. Hamilton pocket watch was first produced in the late nineteen century. One of best choice for the collectors as very few of its pre-1920 models are avaviable now a days. Waltham pocket watches was first manaufactured in the mid of 19th century. The oldest pocket watch factory has a barnd name in the manufacturing of the pocket watches and at the top choice of collectors than the users. Uses of pocket watches come to an end at the start of 20th century because of the production of the wrist watches by the companies and secodnly companies start gifting gold pocket watch to their retire employess which made the pocket watch as a symbol of old age and this results in declining the usage of the pocket watches. The other famous brands of pocket watches are Timex and Vintage Pocket Watches.

The pocket watch fob is a kind of chain or a strip which is fastened to the watch at one end to help in withdrawin it from the pocket. These chains in the old times were mostly made up of gold and other precious metals. The other trends were to make various shapes at the end of the chain which help in making the whole set more fascinating. These pocket watches can be made by using the gold, platinum, silver, leather and even by using human hairs as in the old times a wife could make a chain by her hairs to gift it to her husband.
